Oatmeal-Walnut Apple Betty

- 1/3 cup old fashioned rolled oats, processed in blender til finely ground
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped in blender
- 1 and 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- pinch nutmeg
- 3 tblsp sugar
- 3 Tblsp cold butter
- Apples, peeled and sliced, enough to fill a pie pan
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Toss apples with orange juice as you add them to the pie pan. At the end, toss with a tablespoon or so of cinnamon sugar.
- Mix oats, walnuts, spices and sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix with pastry blender or fingers until pea-size clumps form.
- Top apples with oat mixture and bake until bubbly and apples are tender, 20 to 25 minutes.
