The easiest "cake pan" cake

  • 1 and 1/2 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup cold water or coffee
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350.
  2. In a 9x9 cake pan, blend dry ingredients thoroughly with a fork.
  3. Make 3 indentations in the dry ingredients with your fork. Pour the oil into the first one, the vinegar into the second one, and the vanilla into the third.
  4. Pour the water or coffee over all the ingredients in the pan. Stir with a fork until evenly blended.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, til done. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Serve alone, with whipped cream, ice cream, your favorite frosting, or an ingenious topping of your own.
